Painted at 4 Years Old. At age 4, Alessandra wanted to make her own platter and tell her own story. Astrid and Alessandra made the 21-inch hanging platter together. And after it was fired, Alessandra painted her story. On the front side of the platter is her art interpretation and on the other side is the written version, which had to be dictated to Astrid because Alessandra was too young and unable to write yet. Here is Alessandra's story:
"Under the Sun"
Mommy is the red one, just like the sun.
I am the orange one holding a pink basket filled with cookies, green speghetti al pesto, and sunflower seeds and doggy treats.
Chocolate (our dog), is next to me sniffing the tree.
The tree is up to the blue sky and it has a bird's nest with three red eggs.
Tia Beatriz came to the picnic with us and is happy and is the purple one.
The sun is shining on us.
Nonno and Nonna (grandpa and grandma in Italian) are at home cooking soppita (soup).
I love my family, but I miss Rome too.
